Welcome to Art Class!
This blog is for my Honors art class all about the history of dogs in art. Blogging is a new experience for me but I am excited to learn along the way.
This blog is dedicated to the wonderful family dogs I have had over the years. This is why it's their art class. My dog's names are Finn and Ruby. Finn was the first dog that I had ever had. He was not there first furry friend to our family though. The first dog to be a part of my house hold was Tundra. He as a large golden retriever that was with my family for a few years until he was given to some friend's who owned a ranch to spare my siblings allergies. This was a real ranch, and he wasn't put down just to clarify.
Since my family all had severe allergies to any animal that sheds our next dog was a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. This was Finn. He was an amazing dog. He was sweet and patient with me when I was too little to understand that dog's needed boundaries too. But sadly most of his life he was sick. We all worked to take good care of him so he would be able to live life to the fullest. I believe that we achieved that goal.
After Finn pasted we waited a bit to get a new dog. My sister and I banded together to petition our parents after the appropriate two year mourning period. We really wanted to rescue a dog, specificity a Pit Bull. They are such sweet dogs and we thought that since they have a short coat our allergies would not be bothered. We were wrong. When ever we went to the shelter we would come out puffy eyed and sneezing. So we had to find a dog that wouldn't make us sneeze. This is how we found Ruby. She is a Golden Doodle. We found her on KSL as a fully trained 1 year old dog. She was perfect! Over the past 4 years my family has all come to adore Ruby. She is a part of the family and has to approve of my brother's girlfriends if they are to be a part of the family.
These dogs have all changed who I am as a person teaching me patience, kindness, and love through slobbery kisses and many belly rubs.
